Robby
Thompson
SGA Value Series 11x14
& 8x10 |
|
Robby Thompson, born in West Palm Beach,
Florida, played his entire 11-year career with the San Francisco
Giants. In 1986, he was second in voting for MLB Rookie of the
Year. During his eleven-year career, Thompson played 10,720 innings
at second base and one inning at shortstop. He was elected to
the National League All-Star team twice (1988 and 1993), and won
the Giants' Willie Mac Award in 1991, honoring his spirit and
leadership. Thompson's best year statistically was in 1993 when
he had career highs in batting average (.312) and home runs (19).
Thompson was known for the well-used baseball glove he played
with for almost his entire career. In fact so worn was Thompson's
glove that The San Francisco Chronicle printed a story titled,
"Thompson's Ugly, Pathetic Glove
is a Gem." Robby was part an integral part of the
Giants 1989 National League Championship Team and is a member
of the SF Giants Wall of Fame at AT&T Park.
SGA is offering some cool Thompson collectibles, including this
great hand-signed action shot, in both 11x14 and 8x10 sizes. Part
of our SGA
Value Series - Great Collectibles from Great Athletes
at Great Prices - this one is "Humm

THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!
Bobby Thomson hits into the lower deck
of the left-field stands!
So
says the plate on the Sports
Gallery Exclusive 8x10 Display celebrating this unforgettable
moment in Giants franchise history. On October 3, 1951 (60 year
anniversary in 2011!) during the ninth inning of Game 3 of a three-game
playoff between the NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers for the
NL pennant, recently deceased Bobby Thomson came to bat with one
out. Facing Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca he connected on the second
pitch to smash the ball down the left field line just above the
315-foot sign and landed five rows deep in the stands. Thomson's
"Shot Heard Round the World"
gave the Giants a 5-4 victory over their biggest rival and a trip
to the World Series. Capture this immortal
moment with these vintage 16x20, 11x14 and 8x10 photographs
(check out Jackie Robinson with hands on hips in CF!) dual-signed
by both Bobby and Ralph. But the framings make these pieces -
Sports Gallery Quality Framed
in thick black wood, UV-protective glass (very important for signature
protection) and classic double matting. All are timeless collectibles
and great pieces of Sports Art
that any longtime Giants fan would love! But hurry, there is a
limited supply
now that Bobby Thomson has passed.

Anres
Torres
2010 World Series Champion 16x20 &
8x10 |
| On
a team of great stories, Andres Torres might be the best story
of them all. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, Torres attended Miami-Dade
Community College where he was a track and field star, running
the 100 meters in 10.37 seconds, the second fastest recorded 100
meter time for all MLB players, behind Deion Sanders' 10.26. Torres
played very little baseball as a child in Puerto Rico, and did
not become serious about becoming a professional baseball player
until he was 18. In 1997, the Florida Marlins drafted him in the
twenty-third round of the MLB Draft, but he chose not to sign.
He was then drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round
of the 1998 MLB Draft, and this time Andres signed. From that
point until 2009 when he joined the Giants, Andres spent time
(mostly Minors time) with the Tigers, White Sox, Rangers, Twins,
Tigers (again) and Cubs. Then came the Giants. And in 2010, Andres
not only won the teams' prestigious "Willie
Mac" Award (most inspirational as voted by teammates)
but he led...literally since he batted lead-off...the Giants to
their first World Series Championship in 56 years (and first in
SF). And Andres did all this despite suffering from ADHD (Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Now a spokesperson for ADHD,
a documentary is currently in the works on Andres' life. Just
a great story and person, get these very cool collectibles from
a key member of the Giants unforgettable 2010 Championship Season.
Both
are World Series photographs, hand-signed by Andres and
Sports Gallery Quality Framed with SGA "21010
World Series Champions" Floating Plate. A great gift for
any Giants fan!

Ted
Williams
Last At Bat |
| $1,695
|
| Baseball
Legend Ted Williams,
who died July 5, 2002, devoted his life to winning the elemental
battle between batter and pitcher. He believed in total dedication
to his craft. The results speak for themselves: At .344, this
Hall of Famer owns one of the highest career batting averages
in Major League Baseball history. In 1941, Ted Williams had one
of the greatest seasons of all time, hitting .406 - the last time
any player finished a season over .400. He won two Triple Crowns,
two MVP Awards, six batting titles, and, in spite of spending
nearly five full seasons in the military, amassed 521 home runs
in his career. On September 28, 1960, Williams hit a 420-foot
home run off Jack Fisher in the 8th inning during a game with
Baltimore at Fenway Park. It was his 29th homer of the season
and turned out to be Ted Williams "last at bat" in the
Majors before retiring. This historic at bat is captured beautifully
in this vintage 16x20 photograph. Hand-signed by Ted in blue sharpie
and Sport Gallery Quality Framed in thick thick mahogany, UV-protective
glass (very important for signature protection!), and classic
double matting, this is a timeless collectible that will be passed
down generation to generation in your family. The presentation
is the difference when you buy your Sports
Art at Sports Gallery and this classic deserves the very
best framing. An unforgettable gift for that special sports fan
in your life.

Ted
Williams and "The Babe"
24x20 |
|
$2,495 |
|
This photo is an original color photograph taken in July of 1943
at Fenway Park in Boston and is the first time Ruth and Williams
met. It is one a very few color photos that exists of Babe Ruth.
The actual game that day was a special charity game- where the
(Military) Service All-Stars (lead by Ted Williams, and coached
by the Bambino) took on the Boston Braves. Williams lead the team
to victory with a late-inning home run. Prior to the Game, Williams
and Ruth had a competition to see who could hit the most home
runs. Williams hit 3, and the Babe hit a towering fly ball that
just barely missed the stands. Babe Ruth was 47 at the time of
this photograph, and entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the
8th inning- it would be his last time in front of a major league
plate. One month after this photograph, Williams was called to
duty in WWII. Within a year, Babe Ruth would be diagnosed with
the cancer that eventually took his life. This beautifully framed
and matted 20x24 photograph, hand-signed by the late Ted Williams,
is in a class by itself.

If
you hadn't heard of Brian Wilson before the 2010 season, you definitely
had by its end. Along with shaggy-haired Tim Lincecum and Rookie
of the Year Buster Posey, Wilson WAS
the face of the unlikeliest World Series Champion Team in years.
And yes, he did it all sporting one of the craziest beards ever
seen on a baseball field. Oh, and he's one heck of a closer! The
MLB leader in saves in 2010 with a Giants record 48, Wilson had
four monster saves to end the season that touched off wild celebrations
on the field and in the City by the Bay - NL West, NLDS, NLCS
and World Series. The most visible face...er, beard....of the
Giants after their improbable World Series victory, Brian delivered
a memorable speech at the victory parade, appeared on the Jay
Leno Tonight show, and raised the Championship Flag at AT&T
Park the following season. And did it all with a sense of humor
that has endeared him to baseball fans all around the nation.
This 16x20 photograph was taken moments after Brian closed out
the Giants first World Series Championship since moving to San
Francisco. Doing his famous arm and pointing gesture (a tribute
to his faith), this beauty captures Brian and this unforgettable
moment in Giants baseball perfectly. Hand-signed by Brian with
"Fear the Beard" inscription
and Sports
Gallery Quality Framed, this is a beauty. And the Sports
Gallery Exclusive 8x10 "Fear
the Beard" Display includes a hand-signed photo of
Brian pitching at AT&T in full beard glory. Great collectibles
from one of the great personalities in the game today. |

Mookie
Wilson & Bill Buckner
1986 World Series |
| $199
|
The
1986 World Series will be forever known for the play that cost
the Boston Red Sox Game Six and eventually the whole series. On
a routine ground ball hit by Mookie Wilson towards first base,
Bill Buckner let the slow rolling ball trickle through his legs
which allowed Ray Knight to score the game-winning run. The NY
Mets then went on to win Game 7 and the World Series Championship.
This photo of that classic baseball moment is hand-signed by BOTH
Buckner and Wilson and the framing includes a commemorative plaque
describing this fateful play in Mets, Red Sox, and World Series
history. One of the more famous moments in World Series history,
Bill Buckner's boot of Mookie Wilson's routine ground ball not
only propelled the Mets to a seven game series win, but further
perpetuated the legend of the "Curse
of the Bambino."

When Carl Yastrzemski retired in 1983 after 23 seasons in Boston,
he was the all-time Red Sox leader in eight major categories
games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, total bases, RBI and extra
base hits. An intense performer, Yaz played in more games (3,308)
than any other American Leaguer, topping 3,000 hits and 400 home
runs. A three-time batting champion, he was the American League
MVP in 1967 when he won the Triple Crown, the last player to achieve
the feat. Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, this hand-signed
photograph of Yaz at bat is Sports Gallery Quality
Framed in thick black wood, UV-protective glass (very
important for signature protection!) and classic Sox double matting.
A great gift for any long-time Sox fan.
