well-traveled franchise, playing in Philadelphia, Kansas City,
and, since 1968, Oakland, the Athletics have produced many great
baseball dynasties. From the Charlie Finley-led Swingin' A's,
winners of five straight AL titles and three straight World
Series to the Billy Martin/Rickey Henderson Billy-Ball years
of the early '80's the A's are no strangers to success. In
fact the "Mustache Gang" of the 70's (Catfish Hunter,
Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, and Rollie Fingers among others)
is just the second team (in addition to the Yankees) to win
three straight World Series.

recent years the A's have been built around power and
youth with some of the brightest young stars in baseball.
Past, current, and future baseball superstars like Rickey
Henderson, Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Jason Giambi, Miguel
Tejada, Eric Chavez, Bobby Crosby, and Nick Swisher all
played for the A's, as well as some of the best young
pitchers in baseball, including Barry Zito, Tim Hudson
and Mark Mulder. Perhaps the most underrated franchise
in baseball history, the Athletics are a team to be admired.
