Golden
State Warriors Guard Signs at Sports Gallery!

On
November 14th, 2008, rising NBA Superstar Monta Ellis
followed up his April,
2008 Sports Gallery Signing with
an in-store appearance out our Palo
Alto , CA Gallery. A
Mississippi native, Monta attended Lanier High School
in Jackson where he was named the Parade Magazine High
School Player of the Year in 2005. Originally headed
to Mississippi, Ellis opted instead for the NBA. Drafted
by the Warriors in the 2nd round (40th overall), Ellis
cracked the starting lineup late in the 2005-06 NBA
season. However, the 2006-07 season was really when
the NBA started to take notice of Monta. He was selected
to play in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge during NBA's
All-Star Weekend and scored an impressive 28 points.
Ellis posted a solid season for the Warriors, averaging
16.5 points per game. On April 26, he received the NBA's
Most Improved Player Award, quite an honor for a second
year player. And in 2007-08 Monta's stock continued
to rise,
averaging 20.2 ppg. That season, Stephen
A. Smith of ESPN said of Ellis: "He
has enough potential to be as dominant as Jordan (Michael),
maybe even better." And now Monta is THE
MAN on Golden State with the departure of Baron
Davis. The Warriors, and their fans, are all about Monta
this season. |

Signing for everyone in the huge
crowd, Monta heard cheers from the fans, almost as like
he was playing in Oracle Arena. The energy from the
crowd was amazing. Definitely one of our most popular
signings to date (except for perhaps when Monta
signed in our Walnut Creek store!). |
