"The Kick Heard 'Round the World"
1999 Women's World Cup Champions |
| Ms.
Versatile, the totally two-footed Brandi Chastain started at
the left back position for the United States 1999 Women's World
Cup team. And it was in the Championship Game of that World
Cup that this San Jose, CA native provided one of the greatest
moments in the history of women's sports with her clinching
penalty kick on the USA's fifth and final shot. And almost more
memorable than her laser shot past Chinese goalkeeper Gao Hong
was her reaction afterwards. In a spontaneous moment of pure
joy, Brandi peeled off her shirt, clutching it in her hands
as she fell to her knees. A classic moment that graced the cover
of Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated in the weeks that followed
the US victory (and last World Cup victory). This
Sports Gallery Exclusive World Cup Display includes
an autographed photo of this classic sports moment along with
a SGA Floating Plate commemorating
"The Kick Heard 'Round the World." Sports
Gallery Quality Framed in thick black wood, UV-protective
glass and USA suede matting, this is a great collectible from
one of the greatest moments in USA Sports History. |

Mia
Hamm
After the Game 16x20 & 8x10 |
| What
an amazing career...On May 14, 2004, soccer legend Mia Hamm announced
her retirement effective after the 2004 Summer Olympics, expressing
an interest in starting a family with husband Nomar Garciaparra
(which she did with twins in 2007). A sad day for the world of
soccer, but the goals, records, and honors kept coming for Mia
right to the end. In March 2004, Hamm and former U.S.A. teammate
Michelle Akers were the only two women, and the only two Americans,
named to the FIFA 100, a list of the 125 greatest living soccer
players selected by Pelé and commissioned by FIFA. And
in a friendly game against Australia on July 21, 2004, Hamm scored
her 150th international goal. This match also marked her 259th
international appearance; only her teammate Kristine Lilly played
in more internationals. And, of course, she helped lead Team USA
to a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and was chosen by
her fellow U.S. Olympians to carry the American flag at the Athens
Closing Ceremonies. In her final game on December 8, 2004 against
Mexico at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, Hamm assisted
on two goals in the USA's 5-0 victory over Mexico. Hamm retired
with and amazing total of 158 international goals, at the time
more than fifty ahead of any other player (male or female) in
the history of soccer. Truly the Michael
Jordan of Soccer. This symbolic photo of Hamm leaving the
field is hand-signed by Mia (along with her famous number "9")
in silver sharpie. Available in both 8x10 and 16x20 and both are
Sports Gallery Quality
Framed in thick black wood, UV-protective glass, and
USA double matting (red suede with blue trim on the 8x10). A great
collectible from one of the greatest to have ever played the sport
of soccer.

Marta! 11x14 Poster
8x10 (unframed)
|
| Put
simply, Marta Vieira da Silva, commonly known as Marta,
is the greatest female soccer player in the World today. This
5 ft 4 in native of Dois Riachos, Alagoas, Brazil has been awarded
FIFA's Women's World Cup Player of the Year four times (2006,
2007, 2008, 2009). In the 2007 Women's World Cup, she won the
Golden Ball Award as the Best Player and the Golden Boot Award
as the top scorer. A member of the Brazilian National Team, she
has won Silver at both the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. She
was also awarded MVP and received the Golden Boot in 2009 as part
of the Women's Professional Soccer League in the United States.
And she did it all again in 2010, leading the League in scoring
for the Champion FC Gold Pride and once again being named League
MVP. Just a great soccer player and an even better ambassador
for the sport and women's athletics in general, Sports Gallery
was not only proud to be a sponsor
of the FC Gold Pride but also to have hosted Marta
and two of her Gold Pride teammates (Christine Sinclaire and Kelley
O'Hara) for a signing. Marta signed this great action photograph
and then we framed it with an SGA Floating Plate commemorating
her status as the perennial (or so it seems) FIFA Player of the
Year. A great collectible (and gift) from the greatest player
in Womens soccer today! |
