Baseball Fans Meet Living Legend in Walnut Creek

May 12, 2007, Baseball Legend and Hall of Famer
Willie Mays returned to Sports Gallery, making a
very special in-store appearance at our Walnut
Creek, California
gallery.
They
called him "The Say Hey Kid" when he was
in his prime, but now many people simply regard
him as the best all around baseball player in the
history of the game. His staggering career statistics
include 3,283 hits and 660 home runs.
The
Giants' superstar earned NL Rookie of the Year honors
in 1951 and two MVP awards. He accumulated 12 Gold
Gloves, played in a record-tying 24 All-Star Games
and participated in four World Series. Willie's
amazing over the shoulder catch of Vic Wertz' drive
in the 1954 Series remains one of Baseball's most
memorable moments
Signing
for over two hours, Mr. Mays was in terrific spirits,
chatting with fans and graciously signing their
Mays and Giants keepsakes. Just an unforgettable
day!.
