Every A’s fan remembers The Bash Brothers! Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire were hitting bombs for the A’s for seven seasons, celebrating each homer by bashing each other’s forearms. And leading the Athletics to a dramatic sweep of their cross-bay rival Giants in the 1989 World Series, the “Earthquake Series.” Good times! And McGwire was definitely the most accomplished of the two. As a first baseman, Mark quickly grabbed media attention in 1987 as a rookie with the Athletics by hitting 33 home runs before the All-Star break, and would lead the major leagues in home runs that year with 49, setting the single-season rookie record. A 12x All-Star, Mark was part of the 1998 Major League Baseball home run record chase of Roger Maris' 61 with the Cardinals, setting the single -season home run record with 70 (later surpassed by Barry Bonds). For his career, McGwire finished with 583 home runs, averaging a home run once every 10.61 at bats, the best at bats per home run ratio in baseball history (Babe Ruth is second at 11.76). This official MLB Baseball is hand-signed by Mark right on the sweet spot.  A great collectible (and investment!) from a memorable player in A's...and baseball...history.
