ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
On August 4 1993, Hall of Famer pitcher Nolan Ryan's Rangers faced off against Robin Ventura and the Chicago White Sox. During the game, Ryan came up and in with a 96 mph fastball and hit Ventura. Uh-boy... In a heat-of-the-moment decision, an incensed Ventura dropped his bat and charged the mound. In a scene captured by TV cameras and replayed to millions, the 46-year-old Ryan (20 years Ventura's senior), put Robin in a headlock and started to pound him mercilessly, delivering six consecutive uppercuts to Ventura's head. It was a spectacle that would enhance Ryan's legend as one of the toughest pitchers and fiercest competitors to have ever played the game. And one of the most successful. When Ryan threw his final pitch on September 22, 1993, he concluded a 27-year major league career in which he had 5,714 strikeouts and an amazing seven no-hitters, the highest totals of any player in history. He also won 324 games while playing longer than anyone in major league history. This classic 8x10 Photograph of his beat down of Ventura is hand-signed by Ryan. Then we went to work with a Sports Gallery Exclusive display that includes Quality Framing of black wood moulding, UV-protective glass, classic double matting and a full plate describing this unforgettable moment in baseball history. A great gift for any baseball...or boxing... fan!
