ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
No one can predict the future, but it seemed Johnny Bench was destined for greatness. He won all-state honors in baseball as a high school player and in his first full season in the Major Leagues (1968) he earned National League Rookie of the Year honors. A durable catcher, noted for his excellent baseball intelligence, Bench also won 10 Gold Glove awards and two Most Valuable Player awards during his 17-year National League career. A skilled hitter, the 14-time All-Star selection belted 389 home runs and led the league in RBI three times as a leader of Cincinnati's celebrated “Big Red Machine” teams of the 1970s. Bench, whom many consider the greatest catcher to have played the game (including a recent ESPN survey), was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. Our unsigned SGA Signature Series includes an SGA Exclusive engraved facsimile signature plate and is available with both 16x20 & 11x14 photos. This display includes a great photo of Johnny in his "tools of ignorance" (catchers equipment) with laser-engraved plate. Also included on the plate is the classic Reds logo and "2x World Series Champion." Quality Framed, this is a timeless piece of Sports Art and great gift for any baseball fan, especially one that appreciates the art of catching.
