ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
For several seasons, Matt Cain was the best pitcher on one of the best pitching staffs in baseball...and that included a 2x Cy Young Award winner! A graduate of Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, Matt was selected by the Giants in the first round in the 2002 MLB Draft. Late in the 2006 campaign, Matt's first full season in the Bigs, Cain had a remarkable run pitching. From August 12 to September 14, Matt recorded a 5–0 record with an almost unheard-of ERA of 0.21. During this streak, he allowed just one earned run in 42 innings — and did not allow an earned run in 30 innings! An All-Star in 2009 and in 2011, Cain really showed his stuff during the Giants amazing 2010 World Series run. Cain was perfect in the postseason with a 0.00 ERA including a shutout victory in Game 2. And all Matt did to top that was throw the First Giants Franchise Perfect Game in 2012. Not SF Giants....THE Giants...established in 1883! And only the 22nd perfect game in MLB History...that's 143 seasons! With "The Horse," Matt Cain, on the mound, Giants fans were treated to a game no one will ever forget. The date was June 13, 2012 and Matt Cain threw perhaps the most dominating performance in Giants history, striking out 14! Oh and Matt also started and won the All-Star and Clinching game of the World Series in 2012. 2012 was quite a year for Matt and the Giants. This official 2012 World Series Baseball is hand-signed by Matt and is a great collectible from Matt's best season to date. The perfect gift for any Giants fan!
