ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
The Dr. is in! Julius Winfield Erving II, more commonly known by the nickname Dr. J, was the original “Air Jordan”. Many consider him one of the most talented players in the history of the NBA and he is widely acknowledged as one of the game's best dunkers. He almost single-handedly popularized the modern style of play that we know today that emphasizes leaping and playing above the rim. Julius also played a big role in legitimizing the American Basketball Association (ABA). He was easily the best-known player in that league when it merged with the NBA after the 1975–76 season. Erving won three Championships, four MVP Awards, and three scoring titles with the ABA's Virginia Squires and New York Nets (now the Brooklyn Nets) and the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. He is the sixth-highest scorer in ABA/NBA history with 30,026 points. Well known for slam dunking from the free throw line in slam dunk contests, Julius is the only player in history voted Most Valuable Player in both the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. His number is retired by both the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers and he was named to the ABA All-Time Team and the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. In other words, Dr. J was pretty good. The SGA UnderFifty Series is our best framed value and the perfect way to add this classic 11x14 shot of Julius doing what he did best to your wall. Quality Framed, this is a timeless piece of Sports Art and great gift for any basketball fan.
