ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
Before his Hall of Fame career in the pros, Montana was a star at Notre Dame. As a redshirt junior in 1977, Joe Montana led the Irish to a national championship. During his Notre Dame career he led them to five improbable fourth-quarter comebacks. The most dramatic of them was his last collegiate game, at the 1979 Cotton Bowl, when he fought hypothermia in the ice and wind in Dallas. In that memorable game, he led Notre Dame from a 34-12 deficit to a 35-34 victory in the final 7:37, throwing a perfect pass to Kris Haines for a touchdown with no time remaining. Drafted by the 49ers in 1979, Joe went on to become arguably the greatest quarterback to play in the NFL. He certainly was one of the most successful leading the Niners to nine divisional titles and victories in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV. This Sports Gallery Exclusive presentation celebrates "Notre Dame Joe." Part of our unsigned SGA Signature Series, this beauty includes an SGA Exclusive engraved facsimile signature inset Floating Plate along with Notre Dame logo and "1977 National Champion." This beauty features an action 16x20 or 11x14 photograph of Joe throwing the pigskin during his Notre Dame days. Photos from this period of Joe's career are extremely rare and have the vintage blurred look of bygone days of sports photography. All of which adds to the classic feel of this great piece of Sports Art. The perfect gift for any Notre Dame fan!
