ABOUT THIS COLLECTIBLE
Do you believe in miracles? They called it a miracle and, for once, it really was - not the typical sports hyperbole. The U.S. Olympic hockey team, thrashed by the Russians 10-3 in an exhibition game days before the 1980 Games began, somehow found a way to beat powerhouse Russia, and then Finland, to win the most unlikely gold medal in US Olympic history. Players included: Mike Eruzione, Jim Craig, Steve Christoff, Neal Broten, Mark Pavelich, Dave Silk, Mark Johnson, Phil Verchota, William "Buzz" Schneider, Mike Ramsey, Eric Strobel, Dave Christian, John Harrington, Jack O'Callahan, Bill Baker, Ken Morrow, Bob Suter, Mark Wells, Rob McLanahan and Steve Janaszak. The coach, of course, was the now deceased Herb Brooks, a hockey coaching legend. Remember one of the greatest sports moments in the 20th century, and arguably the greatest US sports moment ever, with this timeless 16x20 photograph of the team's victory celebration after their win over the USSR. Our unsigned SGA Signature Series includes an SGA Exclusive laser-engraved facsimile signature Plate and is available with 16x20 or 11x14 photographs, in this case the classic celebration shot. The signature featured on the plate is none other than that of coach Herb Brooks, the leader of this band of overachievers. Also included is a laser-engraving of his special "USA "Gold" '80" inscription, all on a custom SGA plate that also has Al Michaels' famous "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?" the score of the game and "1980 Winter Olympics" The 16x20 Display is also available with inset replica ticket from the game. A lot of good stuff in one totally unique presentation, this is a terrific piece of Sports Art commemorating a great...great...U.S. sports moment. Please note: shot has vintage blurred look common in historic sports photographs.
